I’ve already reviewed this map at func, so I’ll just leave a link here.

I thought this was a fantastic map with a very novel, surreal setting. I found a few parts of the design questionable (especially the water pit that people mentioned on Func) but overall the unique setting/atmosphere more than makes up for that.

Well, at first I thought: “A depiction of a prison, let’s go”. But when you see the medieval part of the map, flooded and decayed. Well, that brought me back to the original Quake, similar to a “what would happen afterwards the quake 1 story”.

Zombies locked away, monsters still lingering in shadows and traps, and a ending that looks similar to a pre boss room. I thought it was a blast.

Would rate a 5 if it the lights were better. 4.5 for me.

Tagging this as “small” seems very harsh. I’d call it a midsized map by modern standards, i.e. about twice the size of an ID map. It has a distinctive and unique feel to it that I really enjoyed. Toss in JCR’s two maps from the 100b4 competition, and it looks like we have a new arrival on the mapping scene with a distinctive vision. Welcome!
