I think the map’s not that bad for a first map in 1997. Sure the doors are weird, some secrets aren’t marked as such and they don’t have proper clues going on for them. One of the keys required for level completion is even behind one such secret!

But the architecture and combat are competent enough just barely to rate this average, something like 2,5/5 for me.

I agree with the above poster that is a decent, and playable first map from the author. I found that the level design and brush work of the map makes it interesting to explore and the combat of the map to be engaging . I would give this map a three out of five rating and say it is worth a play through.

Having secrets required for progression, especially completely unmarked ones, is extremely annoying or worse for the player who never finds them (check out Crash’s review, for example). Because of this, I’d say it’s below average. It’s unfortunate, because the encounters and layout are decent for a first map.
