I played this because it came up on Quake Map of the Day and because it was there attributed to John “metlslime” Fitzgibbons, one of the great mappers. I enjoyed this well enough, but I can’t find any sign that Fitzgibbons had anything to do this it. Still, as shortish linear trudges through dark caves go, this is done about as well as it could be.

Very simple both in terms of layout and visuals. The author nailed Quake’s dingy catacomb vibe and then seemingly copy+pasted the same assets throughout, which would be confusing if the layout weren’t so linear.

One strength it does have over similarly close-quarters designs of the same era is that the author seems to have given some consideration to monster movement, so fiends don’t get stuck and even shamblers can squeeze in to the tight corridors. Thanks Nane, there are still some mappers failing to get this right 24 years later.
