Nicely detailed start map, with hidden Nightmare selection.

A relatively simple map, that serves as an introduction for some of the new enemies and weapons present in the addon.
Looks a bit barebones and simple. Not a lot of variety and visual decoration, most of the walls use the same texture.
The Impaler weapon is interesting, but feels a bit wonky to use.

Pretty decent tech base map. The small exploding robot enemies are nice and fit in properly.
Gameplay and visually speaking, map design is ok. The last secret is a bit annoying.

Another good tech base map. There is more than the 3 enemy types usually used in base maps, which helps.
This is one of only two places where the Force Field Generator power up is available. It's not really helpful.

A nice temple map, with some uneventful backtracking. Some of the custom textures are pretty ugly, like the rocks and the temple interior.
Secrets are not cryptic, gameplay is ok. On Nightmare, you're on the verge of running out of ammo, but it's manageable.

Interesting map to shotgun start. There is a low amount of ammo, so you'll have to get creative.
It's got plenty of visual details, although, some of them are pretty crude.
Gameplay is entertaining. The Shamblers at the end are very cheap.

Medium sized metal themed map. It's pretty straightforward, looks average.
There is a boss at the end, looks like a Beholder from DnD. Not much too it, it just throws some projectiles and jumps around. More like a beefier enemy.

Pretty good metal themed map. Some areas are on par with id maps, others are slightly below quality.
Probably the best map up to this point.

A solid 3, reaching into 4 out of 5 metal themed map. Could use some more visual detail and it might lead to some confusing navigation. But it does have a nice flow and pathing, when you play it a couple of times.

An ok base map. Looks average, gameplay is ok. There are a few error messages when destroying the generator and the robot enemies have too much health. Luckily, there is a Quad Damage that can get you through the most populated area. But if you're shotgun starting, you'll have to conserve ammo on the first couple of robots.

Average tech base map, with a boss at the end. Map design is decent, gameplay is good.
Final boss continues the good old Quake tradition of being underwhelming.

The new weapons are a bit janky, you will quickly revert back to the default ones from Quake. But they are fun to mess around with, on occasion. As for the new enemy roster, they don't add too much. Lightning Gun Enforcers are easily avoidable if you have distance between you and them. They will mostly stay put, trying to hit you, to no avail. Robots have too big of a health pool and easily get annoying. The small exploding robots are neat.
Textures are a mix of good to bad. But they mostly are ok to look at.
Not really a fan of having step sounds in Quake, but you get used to it. A nice detail is the axe having a different sound when you hit metallic or armored enemies. There are only two Force Field Generator power ups in the whole addon, but they don't really help much. Ammo count will, sometimes, go over the allowed maximum limit, but will reset when you pickup anything else.
Wasn't able to notice too many differences between playing on v1.05 and v2.0. The biggest one is map lighting. On the old version, everything is too dark, with plenty of pitch black areas. On the most recent version, lighting is almost completely flat, making it look worse than before, but it certainly helps with gameplay. Pick your poison, I suppose.
Overall, a decent set of maps, with custom content. Might have been a slight disappointment if bought back in the day. But still worth a playthrough.
