Sometimes it gets convoluted and frustrating in navigation - particularly I have found such elements in the map ‘Venom’, an otherwise excellent installment - as well as, it may become exhausting to take all in one sitting, but nonetheless, a remarkable release.

This is new to me. In 1997 it must have been pretty amazing. I’ve been playing on Nightmare, and found a few places just too unbalanced to remain fun, but that’s my fault for not playing on hard.

At the end of level 3B, is there any legitimate way to get past the shamblers and death knights in the final area? Some important secret that I’m missing, maybe? A quad or a pent? Otherwise, I just don’t see how it’s possible.

Also, on level 4, how are you supposed to open the exit door in the room where the walkway over the lava rises to crush you against the ceiling?

Also, what is the gold key for on map 4? Pretty much as soon as you get it, you exit the map without having used it/

I finished this, having cheated a few times – noclipping through unopenable doors and god-moding the shambler fight. It’s tough to score. Twenty-five years is a long time, and there is no way this pack can stand up now as it did in 1997. By modern standards, the maps fall short in being cramped and arbitrary, and also in odd ways like using misleading textures for pressable and shootable buttons. But even now there is plenty of gameplay to be had here. Impressive, even when not really fun.

A decent looking, big start map. Where you can select the difficulty and the specific map that you want to play. Has a secret map exit.

It’s a neat map. You start in a ship, gear up and then drop to the planet surface. From there, it’s more of a medieval looking place. Ends with you returning to your ship.
The map has good visuals, a few custom textures which don’t look out of place and a decent challenge.
Good map.

It’s a decent map, good visuals, interesting gameplay. I like the big room with all the walkways. I don’t like having to jump straight into slime, while surrounded by 3 ogres and zombies, doesn’t seem fair for the player at all. I also think that one too many Shambler was teleported in the final room, it got boring.

It’s a good map, with nice architecture and visuals. But it kind of provides too many options / places to go, for my enjoyment. This, combined with the similar style for the whole map, makes it very easy to get confused and lost.

Short map with interesting visuals. Not a fan of two Shamblers just waiting for you in a small room.
Neat trap in the checkmate room and a decent fakeout in the 4 Shambler one.

Good map. Great visuals, good amount of backtracking and decent encounters. The biosuit allowing to, somewhat, safely traverse the lava was a nice detail. The way to unlock the exit portal is a bit odd.

It’s a fun map. A single room with waves of enemies spawning. The final wave is a bit too much and is really difficult to survive.

Overall, good set of maps that you should try out.
