1- Really well made castle, i really enjoyed it.
2- HOLY SHIT THE LAST ROOM.

This is my last Steve Rescoe map for quake, really liked the maps.
If someone doesnt know, this dude later on helped on making DOOM3 as a level designer, worked on daikatana too, thank you Steve for your work!

This was cute! I really loved the construction, it’s a very nice looking castle, in that old Quake blocky sorta way, and the way it was open-ended and non-linear feels super innovative for early 1997. I did get lost a couple times, and the end battle is both super goofy, took me a bunch of tries (mostly relied on infighting), and totally avoidable if you just rocket jump up to the top level (which is what I did). I call it a 4 because for 1997, it is pretty ahead of its time, and I think judging maps by their era is only fair. But yeah, as others have said, this does have playability issues, and you might need to hunt a bit to see where you go next.

It’s an ok castle map, prettier than most from this time. Progression is a bit odd. Jumping out of a window, opens an underwater cave, jumping on the king’s bed opens the dinning room area, and so on. Which makes the flow a bit wonky.

nice and simple castle map

Kind of a low 3. Mostly works, and it's creative, especially for an older map. But most of the encounters aren't anything special and the final fight is dumb.
