QMLauncher v1.8.3 - Launcher for Quake and Quake2

v1.5.7
Added the ability to add colored labels and comments for each mod.
For each mod, the time spent in the game is calculated and displayed.

Add/edit label - right mouse button in the list of mods.
Add/edit comment - edit the inscription ‘Description of the selected mod’ located between the cover and the description of the mod.

Minor edits and corrections.

Updated description.
Updated download links.

v1.5.8
Colored labels are now displayed in the mod list. (see first screenshot)
Minor fixes.

Updated first screenshot.
Updated download links.

The new color tags should be useful for showing which mods have already been played, say green for Completed. Nice.

v1.6.0
Fixed launch random mod. Now only mods that have a starting map are launched and the start map is launched immediately.
Fixed play time calculation for accidentally launched mods and maps. (Previously, when starting a random mod/map, the time was calculated for the mod highlighted in the list).

I can’t get this (v1.6.0) to work with Quake1, either vanilla or Quakespasm, it keeps saying “compatible game not found”, it’s definitely in the correct directory. It works fine with Quake2 though.

For the time being can someone point me to an older version of this program? I can’t find one anywhere.

The launcher cannot find a folder named “id1”. This is the main Quake folder. The launcher identifies the game by this folder. You may have deleted or renamed it.

Thanks for that, the folder I copied over from the Quake disk was Id1, I changed the case to id1 and now it works fine.
I’ve been using the launcher supplied by GOG with Quake II, but I might switch to this.

I will fix this bug in the next version.

v1.6.5
Fixes:
Errors with file and folder names in mixed register .
The cover of the mod was saved in low resolution.
Shortcuts for the mod were created incorrectly if the name contained invalid characters.

Added:
Added the PakScape utility for work with .pak files (Right mouse button in the list of mods).

The mod description is now saved in the text file QMLDescription.txt (in the mod folder).
The cover image next to the archive can now be in jpg, png, tga, tif, jif formats.
Minor fixes (visual and in code).

Thank you for creating such a useful utility  Would love for game engines to be saved on a per mod basis, like launch arguments.

Launch arguments for each mod can be set in the mod editing window (there is an input field at the bottom [ run arg ]).

Do you want that when you select a mod in the list in the main window, a specific engine is automatically selected?
That is, it would be possible to assign a different engine for each mod? If there are several engines in the game folder?

Yes, sorry for not being more clear

I’ll try to implement this in the next version.

v1.6.6
Added the ability to assign a different engine for each mod (if there are several engines in the game folder).
In the add-editing mod window, you can select the engine to run this mod.

v1.7.1
Crash when trying to process Warp Spasm and Malice TC mods (possibly others) - fixed.
If the name of the starting map is in mixed case, it is not selected automatically - fixed.
Added the ability to select a cover for a mod using the standard Windows window for selecting a file.
Added support for the game Hexen II.
The algorithm for detecting installed archives has been reworked. Now, if several archives are installed in one folder or an archive is installed in an existing folder, when you try to reinstall the archive, a message will be displayed that the archive is installed (indicating where it is installed).
If you are using the QuaddictedTool utility with QMLauncher - update QuaddictedTool to v1.2.2 or later.
All installed archives will be displayed correctly (in QuaddictedTool v1.2.2 or later).

v1.7.6
Added the ability to resize the launcher window.
Fixed a bug when sorting the list of mods if a custom engine was selected for the mod.
Fixed duplication of demos in the list of demos after exiting the game.
Added x64 version of the utility.
Added modes for playing your own music:

  1. Play tracks in order.
  2. Shuffle the list of tracks and play in order.
  3. Play a random track.

v1.8.3
Many minor fixes visual and in code .
Several detected bugs have been fixed.
When deleting a mod folder, added information that the mod folder is deleted from the disk with all its contents without the possibility of recovery.

The launcher will most likely not be updated in the near future unless bugs are discovered or users ask for something to be added.
