I've been a console gamer growing up, and never owned a PC to play Quake. I played some Quake 3 here and there and loved the atmosphere, aesthetic and iconic gameplay, but never played the original. As fate would have it, I decided to buy the remaster for the included Dimension of the Machine, which I had seen showcased online. It was my doorway into the Quake universe, and completely blew me away. I couldn't believe it was running on a (modified) engine over 25 years old! By the way I played Wrath Aeon of Ruin as well for about 3 and a half playthroughs and loved every second of it. I will play it again in the future. I was blown away by the huge maps and intricate designs. So much fun to explore.

Arcane Dimensions and other community projects by veteran mappers left me in awe. Terror Fuma is one of my favorite maps of all time. Alkaline1.2 is a masterpiece and mind bogllingly awesome. I get transported through dimensions and across aeons whenever I load up Quake. It’s the most fun I had in gaming in a long time. I thank each and every mapper, modder and behind the scenes guys who keep Quake alive!
