Potpurri is a surprisingly decent map. Not decent by today’s standards but compared to Basic Castle and Close Quarters it’s leagues ahead.
There are a lot of technical issues - torches not aligned to walls, wonky brushes everywhere, map flow that doesn’t make a lot of sense, tepid combat, lack of texture variety but underneath all this there’s a functional map you can actually explore.
Another case of ‘worth playing if you place value on ancient maps for their historic value’. Early Quake maps are like playing museum exhibits and I love it.
Very confusing map. It’s a bit bland as well. At first I thought the starting room was the entire map, took me a good 10 minutes to figure out the poorly textured walls were doors.
Taken at face value by modern standards it's boring and ugly. If you apprecaite the fact it was made with a text editor and custom tools it's a faciscinating piece of history.
