Wow.
Just… Wow.

This map really gives me framerate problems, but… the atmosphere.

Competent mapping and lighting, lotsa details, enormous outdoor area, non-intuitive game progression… I’ve tried this over 3 hardware upgrades, and my framerate is still only meddlin’… but it’s worth the trouble! Moar, pleese!
Thanks for all your hard work, and thanks for sharing!

Wow “non-intuitive game progression” is right! There’s obviously a tremendous amount of good work that’s gone into this map, but the absolute killer for me is that I just don’t know what to do. Having gone inside the building (via a non-obvious progression where, it seems, killing three scragmothers caused a barrier some come down), I worked my way around the big enclosed glass dome, pressed the switch at the far end, and was told something about level 1 lasers being disabled. OK, so … now what? I’ve been running around (and swimming around) for ages, and I still have no idea what’s changed.

…there is drain pipe with red light below the broken bridge right down of round tower…

Thanks for the quick response!

I know the place, you enter it from the water. I went in there much earlier to get the unmarked secret shells that you can see in the adjacent pipe. I returned there now, and see nothing new in there. What should I see?

Entrance door is behind all of this pipework in this place. You almost reached it!

I made it to that door. it’s still closed, and it won’t open in response to my coming up next to it or shooting it.

Never mind. Now I know where I am supposed to go next, I noclipped through the door, and carried on. It would be nice to understand what was meant to happen, though.

After that one bit of cheating, I made it to the end.

I have mixed feelings. As I said before, it’s obvious that a tremendous amount of good work has gone into this map. But it’s undermined in several ways. One is the obscurity of progression. Another is the (as it seems to me) actual bug that prevented me from progressing, as noted in the comments above. A third problem is that the custom textures not only look less good than the regular ones, but — much worse — obscure important visual clues, even really basic stuff like what is a button. Finally, I dislike the kind of climax that this map offers: you walk into an arena where you’re sealed in with no option of retreat; then when you have killed everyone, your only choice is to walk in to the exit. There’s no way (that I can see, anyway) to back and look for secrets — or, in my case, the last two kills.

For all these reasons, even though the bones of the map are solid, I’m awarding a slightly mean three stars. Sorry, Calluna Vulgaris!

After entering the elevator to exit and recieving the message “There is no way back“ simply do not press the elevator button, You can freely explore a map. But You SHOULD step into the elevator to open way out the arena.

And thankyou for criticism - it helps me to avoid mistakes in th future!

My mistake, I’d missed that the arena forcefields had come down when I entered the elevator. I restore 0.12 stars  Seriously, thank you for accepting my criticism so graciously. I have one other observation, if you can bear it, which is that the level 1/2/3 forcefield doors look too similar when closed and when open, so I couldn’t always tell which ones I could walk through.
