This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.quaddicted.com/db/canonical/930176a96fb051241696843fa6840d28b4c36671078d50b1ec24ccd6d023c854

Wow. And this is a ‘First’ (for Quake)? This mapper must have tried some world-building somewhere else…
Floating castle in the sky. Very competent brushwork, and very good use of the textures. Good lighting and monster placement. Quite hard-to-find secrets. Some nasty fights, but made with a fair chance to get through them. All in all, excellent mapping!
Very, very good. Thanks for Your hard work, and thanks for sharing!

Looks like QI extracts this one to ‘ad’ instead of ‘ad/maps’.

Thanks for the notice! This was fixed by @JohnNy_cz https://github.com/Quaddicted/quaddicted-data/commit/1d3f721a1e8049099690ba3ef7eed19109fa3db8

This is an excellent map with lots to explore and plenty of that delicious, brutal Arcane Dimension quality to the combats. The castle is rather beautiful, and has a pleasingly consistent quality to its aesthetics without falling into the trap of everywhere looking the same as everywhere else.

My one real criticism would be the pacing. To get through the rune door, you first need to get through two difficult challenges; but after the door, what follows is easier. In particular, I don’t understand why you’re given the Ring Of Shadows before taking the elevator up into what’s a pretty underpopulated area — when it appears, I always expect a hard combat where the Ring will give an advantage if used cleverly. But not this time.

I finished with 179 of 189 kills and 5 of 8 secrets.

Anyway, a fine map which I’m likely to reply.
