The simple, yet strikingly effective, lighting approach in Lurker’s map is pretty cool (it’s the one pictured here). No idea why he didn’t add any enemies at all (there is zero gameplay). The other ones are over in a minute or less. I am thinking that this was a conceptual project. The Read Me file doesn’t go into much detail.

I’d love to know the story behind this map-pack. Objectively these aren’t good maps, or even complete maps, but they all have interesting features. Lurker’s map is particularly interesting, with an odd mix of realistic details (furniture etc) and otherworldly lighting.
Are you sure you want to know the story?

White snow with zero texture, so if you walk while looking down you don't see texture moving by to show that you're moving. Super fast map with just 7 monsters. Walk along an iceberg with some rocks and stairs, then into a 2 Shambler ice cave. Maybe inspired from Winterlands in World of Warcraft. Can swim out of the water and walk around the ice cave.

"Eek, ugly laziness" it says if you noclip up into what I suppose is a blender?
Ice cube falling into a pale of lava? No monsters, no real goal other than hop in and exit.

Looks like a cool 3D tour of a nice looking mansion, with a patio overlooking the water.
Fun to look around, but no monsters or goal.
