just replayed this map. for 1997, it’s not bad! you can choose which key to get first and has an interesting ‘upside down’ area.

Great quake map with interesting and unique ideas such as battling through an upside down room. There are plenty of other devious traps that await the player as well as great combat , brushwork, and level design present within this level. Worth playing as this map gets a three out of five rating from me.

In some ways, this map is a product of its time: it has annoying traps and the kind of blocky architecture typical of 1997 maps. But in other ways, it’s far ahead of its time: there are a few wonderfully creative ideas here ideas that make it worth playing even today. When this map is bad, it’s plain. When it’s good, it delivers a massive dose of e4-style weirdness.
The map has some clever ideas, one of which I have never seen elsewhere, and I’d almost want to recommend playing this map just to experience that cool idea alone. xD
I’m not sure if I was just playing sloppily, but the map felt challenging and health sure wasn’t too plentiful in my runs. The traps felt fair enough, although some of them were kind of close to overstaying their welcome. I’d say the biggest drawback would be the plain looks of the map. They were intentional, but a little more bling would’ve been appreciated.
Oh and I agree with JMP, it sure has some really nice E4 vibes, something that I’d like to see a LOT more!
