I really enjoyed playing this 3 Maps, in certain the third Map. Playing on skill 2 wasn’t to hard, at least for me. I found 7/11 Secrets in the third map. 5/5

I don’t know what to add, others mostly covered it all I think.
It’s great for me especially in one aspect. Even though it has 3 different styles, the music and weapon changes make it still coherent. And since the music fits it all perfectly, it IS coherent.

Anyway, got 10/11 secrets in Citadel.
Sadly, red armor and that nasty ‘2-walls-reveal-lift-to-quad’ ones I discovered when it was all over.
Where is that damn last secret, no idea…

I really recommend running this in TyrQuake’s software renderer, it just fits this one.

Aaah, “3-face-ring-of-shadows”! Hehe, great.

I had to say that it’s overly better than I thought, it’s so brilliant.

I don’t know what makes the atmosphere the most, whether the music, weapons and monster modifications, level design, the flow or all of it together, but we just need more of this.

Well, this is just infuriating. There is some good design here, especially in the third map, but at every turn I found my enjoyment spoiled by the new weapons and the modified monsters and the reduced ammo allowances. Part of the glory of Quake is understanding exactly what the player’s capabilities aree, and what’s needed to defeat the various monsters. Changing all that adds nothing, and leaves the poor player constantly wrongfooted. All that work the mapper did, just to make Quake much worse.

I did fight my way through to the end, finishing all three maps with maximum kills on Hard, but rarely along the way did I find it actually fun to do. So despite the technical achievements, I’m afraid it’s two stars from me. I’d love to see what imi74 could do if he or she poured all that creativity into actual maps.

Now I’ve posted my own comment, I went back and read everyone else’s, and I see that I am in a tiny tiny minority — it sees everyone loves this except me. I don’t know what to tell you. For me, this would have been much better if it was presented as a set of vanilla maps with the usual weapons, ammo and monsters.

Very interesting episode. Extremely unique, especially the second map. I played on normal, and it was well-balanced. Chunky brushwork, but it just conveys a special style and look, underlined with the great soundtrack.
