Godly level. It is a pity that there is a need to noclip twice in the map, to go down and then up o the vertical nailshooter trap, but got it done. It looks like it is half finished even though the text file says othing about that, as there is a gold key door that does nothing useful and an awful bug on the ogre’s ride that insta-kill the player, so save after noclipping down the nailshooter.
It is remarkable due to the interconnected layout on the main part, good combats, inventive ideas to progress several times, and decent to general good looks, good jumping parts that don’t require trickjumping.
On the other side, the bugs and the special enemies not being marked is a pain. The latter being a usual thing in this series so its less of an issue.
4+ for it, if it were finished and polished the second half, it would be a 5.

What a map. It took me at least an hour to figure out the intended route and how to achieve it. At first I thought the map is broken and there’s some trigger missing, so tried to go noclip around to find the next intended room to play through, eventually looking at the map in the editor. I couldn’t find any way except the door which opens from the other side and a pipe which looked like instant death trap. Then I noticed something: 2 red armors very close to each other.
This map has pipe with a wind an constant trap shooting nails. You have to go through it twice: once down and once up. To do that you have to be at 100 hp with 200 of red armor. There are exactly 2 red armors on the map to do that. But here’s a trick, it is not possible to go down if you have way too high fps. So in order to survive the fall I had to set host_maxfps to 10 (which is a minimal value in Ironwail, at least). Going up the pipe works the other way: with lower fps it becomes impossible to survive.
Overall, that was a tiresome experience. I’m glad I figured out how to beat it though.
