Console command for difficulty in q1.5

How to I change the difficulty setting in Quake 1.5 in the console when playing custom bsp maps?
The standard commands (used in standard q spasm) ie. Skill 3, restart doesn’t work

should work. What engine? Zircon? Darkplaces? What version (build) of the engine (especially when it comes to Darkplaces)? What custom map? I’ve just tried in Zircon and things worked just fine.
