In 1997 and 1998, 3DRealms solicited mappers to send them Quake 1 maps to test their skill at building real 3D levels, in order to select level designers for Prey. If the mapper was hired, 3DRealms would then release their map in their site.
So far, I have recovered two such maps by using the Waybackmachine: “jacastle.zip” by John Anderson, and “iam1.zip” by Martin Goedtke. I have mirrored them here: https://duke4ever.altervista.org/prey/files.html .
However, I’ve had no luck with two other maps:
]“station.zip” (file size 915 KB), made by Matt Wood and released by 3DRealms on April 24, 1997/]
]“Prey_Quake demo” (file size unknown), made by John Anderson and released by 3DRealms on August 28, 1998/]
Does anyone here have those maps archived somewhere? The page I linked is part of a Prey Museum site I’m building, and I want it to be as complete as possible.
NOTE: “station.zip” is NOT the map that can be downloaded from https://www.quaddicted.com/files/maps/multiplayer/ . The available map does not match the release date (10/18/97, should be 04/24/97 or earlier), the author (Michael Reed, should be Matt Wood) nor the file size (529K, should be 915K).
