Quake Injector and Quakespasm spiked Help and General Discussion

hello to all here,

after a very long time and a few new upgrades and Laptops and Computers I’m looking at installing and getting back onto Quake Injector and see that there’s a new version of it and wanted to know how well it fairs out to the older one i installed on my pc back in 2018/19, also the Quakespasm exe. you need to run it with the website that you get it off every time I try to download it the computer comes back to be saying that it’s detected a virus and it doesn’t download it, so looked elsewhere for it and came across a version of it on ModDB called ‘Quakespasm_spiked_with_mods_and_maps_V2.7’ and wondered if anyone here has ever come across and/or used that one with Quake Injector oh yeah also one other last thing just to remind me that you do need to have a copy of the original game file for it to officially run properly well I’ve got a copy of it on GOG and want to know if it’ll run just fine with that version of it.

thank you

That’s right, but in your case you’ll only need to drill in your local GOG game repertory to get a copy of the id1 folder and it’s content and place it following wherever the engine of your choice requires it.

hello there, first off very sorry for the late reply,

ah right okay thank you for informing me about what i needed to do in regards to me having the GOG version and where do/will i find the drill and id1 files in the GOG Quake folder, also if you don’t mind me asking you if you have and idea on any of the other subjects I’ve discussed in the thread?

thank you again and very sorry for the late reply

Sorry, but the OP thread has been removed from Quaddicted. So it’s left between us to PM chat.

To make it simple, you’ll find an “id1” folder in any type of quake official install, from the earliest '96 CD-Rom to GOG or Steam installs of today. With the latters, you have to navigate (drill) inside your local official installed game files and copy the id1 folder and its content.

They’re numerous Quake engines developed along the last 30 years of Q1 existence. The game is playable on about any OS possible. Each version requires its own specific way of properly install the game files on your computer. Here at Quaddicted, if you browse the wiki, you’ll find many answers to your questions.

Another way is to g00gl€ specifics about the game and learn the how-tos. Tutorials are legion on YouTube. These basic questions about the install steps have been object of many pages, tutorials and help pages online, by many knowledgeable people.

If you are playing an official copy of Quake from GOG, there’s also many answers on how to install/play custom maps and mods in the discussion pages related to Quake on GOG website.

that’s strange why did they remove it for what was the reasoning in doing that?

oh right okay thank you for letting me know about this and most importantly the wiki will definitely look into that one

ah right kk will look into that one and see what i can find on youtube in regards to Tutorial Videos on it aha didn’t think about that one and oh shit really holy hell had no idea that there are so many pages on and to do with this discussion of how to go about installing and setting up Quake Injector.

yeah that’s what I’ll be doing from this time round i think the first time i did it was with the official copy i have of it on Disc all those years ago and oh shit yeah? aha well i’ll have to see if i can find any of them on GOG’s website

thanks again

Huh, what thread? This is a public thread, not PM chat.

@Spirit, I think I didn’t refresh the page or didn’t log in because I didn’t see Fint9818 OP in the list.
I’m confused about what made me believe it was a PM.
Anyway I tried to answer.
Thanks for the heads up and sorry for the confusion.

Phew, thanks! Yeah, the new forum is a bit “modern” compared to the good old classic php one before and can be confusing
