Quake Injector version 7 (RC1) works with the new website

Hi everyone,

An updated Quake Injector is now available! We need the community’s help testing it.

Major changes:

  • Works with the new Quaddicted backend API
  • Size column added
  • Both ratings columns removed

Minor changes:

  • Sort by release date by default on startup
  • Description box improved: bigger size, bigger screenshot, all links listed
  • Error handling improved

:red_exclamation_mark:Note that this is a release candidate build, not a final official release.

:folded_hands: Please report any new bugs (not present in version 6) right here in this thread.

Well, it seems to work! Went with the exe, Malwarebytes initially quarantined it due to MachineLearning/Anomalous.94% but I added an exception for that

Setup went without a hitch and I was able to install and run a newer vanilla map with no problems. I haven’t tested it with more complex stuff that has dependencies but that would probably be more a test of my db work than QuakeInjector

As with the old version, I think a dark mode would be nice, and appreciated by many, but not essential obviously

How is it handling extraction, does it still just extract the whole archive to whatever is specified in the install.extract property?

Tagging @Spirit @dumptruck_ds and @Sprony so they can hopefully give it a test as well, I can’t remember if anyone else has access to this area

Edit - hah, I just realised this new thread is in the public section and not the private beta forum, which explains my previous comment!

I’m on Windows 11. I simply extracted it to the Quake directory, set up the paths, downloaded Sock’s latest and played it. Worked like a charm!

Awesome, since I’m on linux I’ll try the Java version tomorrow when I’ve got free time.

Awesome news! :handshake: Tested with openjdk 21.0.2 2024-01-16 LTS on Win10.

I’m curious, why were the rating columns removed? (Rating was my primary sorting criteria).

One minor bug (old QI had same bug): Every time I run QI I have to got to Engine Configuration and click Okay without changing the config, otherwise I get an error popup saying “Quake engine paths aren’t set correctly, can’t start.”. QI remembers the paths until I restart QI. The paths are saved in the config and are set correctly in the Configuration dialog but somehow QI can’t “see” the paths unless I open the dialog once per session.

Thanks for testing with openjdk, good to know there aren’t any major issues. Hard to say why that dialog always shows up. Could you DM me your config.properties file and I could see if I can reproduce the issue somehow.
