Nice progression once more, as usually seems to be the case with this author. The secrets are a bit arbitrary, but I won’t hold that against him. Good, solid early work.

Good solid map. Stands out in brushwork and looks in general, being decent to good by today standards, and like ID quality or better. Gameplay is good and secrets are decently placed. Varied layout with several side areas. Difficulty around ID maps. Good amount (less than ID maps) and placement of ammo/health/armour.

Overall, we need more bar cages. Rated 4+ for the year.

A great early map, that’s for sure! It’s pretty faithful to the idbase style, as was the author’s purpose, but adds to it with some clever use of textures and cool new door designs, for example.

The gameplay is pretty challenging and fun on nightmare and the secrets were quite clever.

Even though the brushwork and texturing are good for the most part, at times they are a little bit wonky (oversized computers at the lab, end slipgate that doesn’t quite look like the real thing etc.) or a bit too simple. The simplicity is understandable, considering hardware limitations of the time, but as I’m considering a rating between 4 and 5, I have to start getting nitpicky.

It’s a great map, don’t get me wrong, but the little things pile up and do give the map a rougher feel to it than necessary, which warrants a 4/5 rating from me (as of writing this review).
