This is the most beautiful Quake map ever made. The details are impeccable. The lighting is spot on. The effects are amazing. Small things make this really shine like: fish in the fountain, trap doors at the tops of all broken ladders, events during the intermission, some random cat, named secrets, checkers, darts, …the list goes on. Really there is so much cool stuff here, it’s hard to wrap your head around it. It seems every detail has been thought of. Great new enemies. Liked how the invisible swordsmen from rogue make a reappearance, but with glowing eyes, gives them more susbstance.
Now for the bad. The double barrel shotgun is too slow, but I was expecting it to be more powerful as a result and it is not. By the time I can shoot again the enemies moved and this made it more annoying. The damage rate of the single barrel is about the same as the double. Those vengeful spirit ghost ladies were crazy hard to kill. They were fun except they’d show up right in your face and do crazy high damage. The white blood on ghosts was a nice effect but made it hard to tell if I was damaging them or not. Not enough secrets, lots of missed opportunity ledges. Would really have loved if you could somehow pay the barmaid to open the hotel rooms or the houses had insides. Ah well.
All in all absolutely fantastic. This is the best castle I’ve seen in Quake yet.
The secret map has all of the above, but is even more beautiful if that’s possible. I was absolutely blown away.

This was a solid 5 for me. I’m in constant amazement over what the Quake community is turning out for a game 25 years old.
Raven Keep is a must-play. This fantastic castle begs to be explored, but cautiously since deadly enemies lurk everywhere! The design and construction are fabulous and the textures and attention to detail are pure eye-candy.
So, Dr. Doom was a hoot! I imagined myself in Latveria, his guest/ prisoner. I was also taken aback to see Alice working there as a chambermaid and was glad I wasn’t going to be closing my eyes there at night! The aliens who landed only to dump the cat out of their ship was another laugh. I went up to it and it meowed at me! In fact, all the models were great.
I played skill 2 using QSS .93.2 and did encounter some performance issues until I added -heapsize 524288 to the command line and then all was well.
My hat’s off to you Redfield and I hope to see more from you in the future! Thank you!

The mod lags and the weapons are more useless than playing it at nightmare - and this is on normal difficulty. The ravens need 6 shots at point blank to be killed. Too bad, it’s a total ruin.

I have to agree with Nailin: there’s some weird balancing on how spongey the ravens - which you face a bunch of right at the start - are, given how damaging they are. Personally, it put me off as much as it did Nailin.

Amazing modeling and mapping! The ravens are too spongy and aggressive and I ran out of ammo a little, but I really enjoyed it.
